Year of the Rooster:
2017 is the year of the Rooster in China. If you were born in 1945, 1957, 1969,1981, 1993, 2005, then 2017 is your zodiac year of birth (called benmingnian in Chinese). It’s said people born in the year of the Rooster have the following characters: they are deep thinkers, capable and talented. They like to be busy and are devoted beyond their capabilities and are deeply disappointed if they fail. They are often a bit eccentric, and often have rather difficult relationship with others. They always think they are right and usually are ! They frequently are loners and though they give the outward impression of being adventurous, they are timid. They can be selfish and too outspoken, but are always interesting and can be extremely brave. Are you? :-)

Common greetings for New Year in Chinese:

Gōng xǐ  fā cái, hóng bāo ná nái !  恭喜发财, 红包拿来!  Wish you prosperity and give me a red envelop.  (Usually use this to pay a New Year call and ask for red envelop).
